About Us
Based in Brooklyn, Ken Levenson Architect, P.C. is a full service architectural firm committed to the complete process of design and construction. With particular emphasis on whole existing building renovation, and new building construction our firm works intimately with our clients to achieve balance of design, comfort, heath and energy efficiency working toward clear project budget and schedule targets.
To better achieve our holistic goals Ken Levenson Architect, P.C. utilizes the Passive House methodology. Passive House is a rigorous voluntary energy standard that results in dramatic energy savings while simultaneously providing superior thermal comfort, indoor air quality and structural longevity – affordably.
Ken Levenson is a founding director of NY Passive House, a local non-profit dedicated to promoting the Passive House standard in the New York region and is currently in the midst of training to become a Passive House certified consultant.
Ken Levenson Architect, P.C. is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, the International Passive House Association, and an Adopter of the Architecture 2030 Challenge. The Challenge seeks to radically increase the energy efficiency of the buildings we design and encourage ongoing general education regarding building energy efficiency issues.
Becoming alarmed by our unfolding climate crisis, Ken built Checklist Toward Zero Carbon at the start of 2008 - a website to help everyone do what they can to reduce their carbon footprint comprehensively.
Ken Levenson, an architect with more than 20 years experience, has overseen award-winning projects. After receiving a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute in 1989, he worked at several prominent firms including Iu + Bibliowicz Architects and Thanhauser and Esterson Architects. He is licensed in New York State and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
